Honduran Black n Ethiopian Welo Opal Pendant

This pendant was made with 2 kinds of opal; a natural, Honduran black opal cabochon and fiery, faceted Ethiopian welo beads. Tiny glittery pinpricks of red, orange, green and blue light blink from the dark gray surface of the Honduran black opal as it moves. The Ethiopian welo opals feature mostly green and blue fire with pops of red and peach. Still photos do not do this piece justice since opals are best-appreciated when they move and the fire is allowed to "roll". Solid Sterling silver wire was gracefully woven to cascade around the stones in this stunning, one-of-a-kind piece. The wire was oxidized naturally with egg yolk, then sealed with clear lacquer to resist tarnish and preserve the aged finish of the piece. This is a very large pendant, measuring 49x32x23mm (1.9" x 1.3" x 0.9") and comes suspended on an 18" Sterling silver chain.
