Bismuth Crystal and Silver Pendant

Description

This gorgeous handcrafted pendant was made with a sparkling and prismatic bismuth crystal, wrapped in genuine 0.925 Sterling silver-filled wire. This pendant, measures 52x22x18mm (2.0" x 0.9" x 0.7") and comes suspended on a 18"-long black leather cord (silver chain substitution available upon request) which, closes with a lobster-claw clasp. This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece, since each and every bismuth crystal is unique and it was wrapped to echo the dimensions and morphology of the crystal. What a conversation piece!

Bismuth is naturally a silvery-white color as a fresh crystal but acquires it's colorful, iridescent surface due to it's exposure to air and oxidation of it's surface. The spiral stair stepped structure of a bismuth crystal is the result of a higher growth rate around the outside edges than on the inside edges. The variations in the thickness of the oxide layer that forms on the surface of the crystal causes different wavelengths of light to interfere upon reflection, thus displaying a rainbow of colors. WOW!

Your pendant will arrive safely in a jeweler's gift box, which will be inserted into a padded bubble envelope. You may add a custom message which I will print in a lovely script font and insert within the gift box, if you wish. I can also gift wrap this item for no additional charge, if desired.

I love the colors and geometry of the bismuth. Your wire-wrapping sets it off wonderfully.
